(June 24): Gold surged to the highest level in more than two years in a frantic global hunt for haven assets as Britain's voters were projected to back leaving the European Union.
Bullion for immediate delivery jumped as much as 7.2% to US$1,347.58 an ounce ($1,820.92 an ounce), the highest price since March 2014, and traded at US$1,347.48 at 11:48 a.m. in Singapore, according to Bloomberg generic pricing. Earlier, the precious metal had been as much as 0.5% lower following a four-day losing run.
